    How to Restore VMware virtual machines in VERITAS Backup Exec v20.3

    Veritas Backup Exec allows you to restore virtual machine VMware data to either the situation from which the info was protecting or to a special location. Restoring data to a special location is mentioned as a redirected restore.

    1- Select the Backup and Restore tab and then click Restore.

    3- On the Resource View tab > expand the virtual host server name or the virtual machine name > select the items that you want to restore and then click next.

    4- Select To a different vCenter or ESX server (you can also select to the original location) and then click next.

    5- Expand the vCenter server and select the datastore where you want to save VM machine and click ok.

    6- Type the name of the vCenter Server or ESX/ESXi host that you want to restore to, or click Browse to search for the server.

    Select the right logon account for the server that you simply want to revive the info to.

    Click Browse next to the Virtual machine folder to select the folder to which you want to restore.

    Click Browse next to the Resource pool to select the resource pool to which you want to restore.

    7- Here you can select what additional options do you want to use and then click Next.

    8- What additional tasks do you want to perform before and/or after a restore and then click Next.

    9- If you want to type a name for the virtual machine types it in the Virtual machine name field. And configure schedule or select Run now and then click next.

    10- Review the restore summary and click Finish.

    11- In Job monitor option you can monitor the job.

    12- After completed restore, you can see the virtual machine in vSphere client.

    In this blog, I will explain how to create backup job in veritas backup exec v20.3, creates a job schedule full and incremental backup of a single server to a disk storage with a full backup.

    1- After adding the vCenter server we’d like to make a backup job. Select Backup and Restore Select Backup then select Backup to Disk.

    2- Under vCenter Server properties, click Edit.

    3- On the Backup Selections window select VMs which you want to backups and click ok.

    4- Select Test/edit credentials for server > select test all and click ok.

    6- In the left pane and click Schedule and then select when you want the backup job or jobs to run.

    7- Select Storage and then select the storage device that you want to use for the backup job or jobs.

    8- Select this option to specify the network interface that Veritas Backup Exec users to access remote computers.

    9- Each backup job and stage are often configured with different notification recipients. Veritas Backup Exec will notify people by email or text message.

    In the left pane, select any additional options that you want to apply for the backup job or jobs. and then click the ok button to save the backup job Settings.

    10- after configuring the backup option, so click on ok.

    11- You can wait next backup schedule time or right click on the backup job and then click Run Now to start the backup job.

    In this article, I will provide instructions on how to add servers to Veritas Backup Exec 20.3 and higher Agent for Windows on a remote machine.

    Add Servers in Backup Exec

    1- On the Backup and Restore tab in the Servers and Virtual Hosts group – right click and select add Server.

    2- Select Microsoft Windows computers and servers and then click next.

    3- Select Allow Backup Exec to establish a trust with the servers and then click next.

    4- Browse for any servers that you want to add.

    5- Expand Servers and Select the servers you want to add for Backup and you want to install the Agent for Windows and then click OK.

    6- In the Logon Account field select the login account that you want to use to access each server and then click Next.

    7- Select Upgrade the Veritas Backup Exec Agent for Windows to the current version automatically and then click Next.

    Add vCenter Backup Exec, You can use the Add Server Wizard to feature VMware vCenter Server and install the Agent.

    1- On the Backup and Restore tab menu within the Servers and Virtual Hosts group right-click and click Add Server.

    Select after adding the virtual host, install the backup exec agent for windows on a virtual machine and click next.

    In this article, I am going to Install Veritas Backup Exec v20.3.

    Minimum Requirement

    Microsoft® Windows 2008 x64

    VMware vSphere 5.1

    Microsoft® Hyper-V 2008

    Disk Space – 1.26 GB (Typical installation) and 1.91 GB (includes all options)

    Minimum Required: 1 GB of RAM – Recommended: 2 GB of RAM

    Processor – Intel x64 bit, Xeon (64bit), AMD64, or compatible

    Minimum Required: 4 Cores – Recommended: 8 Cores

    Microsoft SQL Server or SQL Express for Backup Exec Database

    Install Veritas Backup Exec

    1- CD / DVD drive From the installation media browser click Browser.exe to install Veritas Backup Exec.

    5- Select I accept the terms of the license agreement and click on next.

    15- Create a local SQL Express instance or use an existing instance of SQL Server and then click next.
