Migrate Server 2008 to 2012, In this blog, I am using my Server2008 (windows server 2008 R2 STD SP1) and my SRV2012 (new Windows Server 2012 Standard)
Migrate Server 2008 R2 Active Directory To Server 2012
1- First we need to use a domain account which is a member of Domain Admins and Enterprise Admins Groups and member of the Schema Admins group. I am using the domain Administrator account which is already a member of all these groups.

2- Click Start, select Administrative Tools, then Active Directory Domains and Trusts.
3- Right-click Active Directory Domains and Trusts and then select the Raise Forest Functional Level.
4- Select an available forest functional level “Windows Server 2008 R2 and then click Raise.
5- Click OK.
6- The functional level was raised successfully, so click ok.
Now Raising the Function Level of the Domain
7- Right click on the Domain name, (xpertstec.local) and then click Raise Domain Functional Level.
8- It has already got raised the Domain Functional Level to Windows Server 2008 R2, so click Close.
Prepare the Active Directory Schema for Windows Server 2012
9- Insert the Windows Server 2012 installation disk into the Windows Server 2008 R2 Domain Controllers.
10- Click Start > right click prompt > select Run as administrator.
11- Type D: and press Enter D is the windows server 2012 installation disk.
12- Type the command cd d:\support\adprep
13- Now type adprep /forestprep
14- Type the letter C and then press enter
15- And then type adprep /domainprep and then press enter.
Install Windows Server 2012 and join it to the Windows Server 2008 Domain Controller.

Transferring the Flexible Single Master Operations (FSMO) Role.
I have a Windows Server 2008 Domain Controller ( server2008 ) and have an additional Windows Server 2012 domain controller (SRV2012). to finish the migration, we’d like to transfer 5 FSMO roles to the new domain controller.
Schema Master
Domain Naming Master
PDC
RID pool manager
Infrastructure Master
27- To find who is currently holding FSMO > open command prompt > so run the following command, netdom query fsmo
The FSMO Server roles are currently with the Windows Server 2008 R2 domain controller (server2008).
Using Active Directory Schema Master snap-in to transfer the Schema Master role.
Migrate Server 2008 to 2012
28- Open Command Prompt in administrative mode and then type regsvr32 schmmgmt.dll
29- Open Microsoft Management Console MMC
30- Click File and then select Add/Remove Snap-in…
31- From the left side, under Available Snap-ins > select Active Directory Schema > then click Add and click ok.
Change Domain Controller
32- Right click Active Directory Schema and then select Change Active Directory Domain Controller.
33- Select this Domain Controller or AD LDS Instance > click on the domain controller that you want to be the schema master role and then click ok.
34- Click ok.
35- In the console1, right click Active Directory Schema [SRV2012.xpertstec.local] and then select Operations Master.
36- Click Change.
37- Click Yes.
38- Operations Master successfully transferred, so click ok.
39- Now confirm your current schema master which is SRV2012, so click close.
Using Active Directory Domains and Trusts to transfer the Domain Naming Master Role.
40- From the Start Screen, open the Active Directory Domains and Trusts.
41- Right-click Active Directory Domains and Trusts and then select Change Active Directory Domain Controller.
42- Select this Domain Controller or AD LDS Instance > click on the domain controller that you want to be the schema master role and then click ok.
43- Right click Active Directory Domains and Trusts and then select Operations Master.
44- Click YES to confirm the transfer of the Domain Naming role.
45- The operations master was successfully transferred, so click ok.
46- Confirmed the domain naming operation master role and then click close.
Using Active Directory Users and Computers snap-in to transfer.
RID, PDC, and Infrastructure Roles.
47- From the Start Screen, open the Active Directory Users and Computers.
48- On the SRV2012 server > open Active Directory Users and Computers, right-click on your domain xpertstec.local and then click Operations Masters.
49- On the Operations Masters, Select RID, then select the Change button.
50- Click Yes.
51- The operations master role was successfully transferred, so click ok.
52- Verify that Operation master now transferred to our new Server SRV2012.xpertstec.local
53- On the Operations Masters > Select PDC and then select the Change button.
54- Click Yes.
55- The operations master role was successfully transferred, so click ok.
56- Verify that Operation master now transferred to our new Server SRV2012.xpertstec.local
57- On the Operations Masters > select Infrastructure and then select the Change button.
58- Are you sure you want to transfer the operation master role, so click on Yes.
59- The operations master role was successfully transferred and then click on ok.
60- Verify that Operation master now transferred to our new Server SRV2012.xpertstec.local
61- Now we need to check if the roles were properly transferred > open command prompt and type “netdom query fsmo” you have successfully transferred all of your FSMO roles to the SRV2012.
Now Migrate Server 2008 to Server 2012 Completed
Now the final step is to remove (uninstall) server2008 Active Directory domain controller.
Remove Active Directory Server 2008
62- Click Start > click Run type dcpromo and then click on ok.
63- Welcome to the Active Directory domain services installation wizard, click next.
64- The Active Directory domain controller has the global catalog service, make sure your primary DC also has the service enabled and then click ok.
65- Confirmed that the Delete this domain, because this server is the last domain controller in the domain, is UNCHECKED and click on next.
66- Type a password for the Administrator account on this server and click next.
67- Review the summary (remove active directory domain services from this computer) and click next.
68- Check the Reboot on completion box to restart the server after the service has been removed.
69- After rebooting server2008 DC Login and open Server Manager.
70- In Server Manager under Roles Summary, click Remove Roles.
71- Remove server roles wizard, click next.
72- Uncheck Active Directory Domain Services, DNS Server and click next.
73- Confirm removal selection and click Remove.
74- Active directory domain service removal results restart pending, click Close.
75- Do you want to restart now, click Yes.
76- After rebooting server log back to server2008, active directory domain services removal succeeded and click Close.
Unjoin the Windows server 2008 machine from the domain.
77- Click Start > right-click computer and select properties.
78- From windows server 2008 system properties, click change settings.
79- On the System Properties click Change.
80- Select workgroup type in a workgroup name and click ok.
81- After you leave the domain a warning message appears, click ok.
82- Welcome to the workgroup, click ok.
83- Click ok to restart the server.
84- System Properties, click Close.
85- Click restart now or restart later and then shut down this server.

Migrate Active Directory Server 2003 to Server 2012
1- On the DC2003, open Active Directory Users and Computers, then right click domain name (xpertstec.local), then click Raise Domain Functional Level
2- On the Raise Domain Functional Level interface, confirm you click Windows Server 2003 and click on Raise.
Domain Functional Level must be set up to a minimum of Windows 2003 mode. This is the lowest required Domain Functional Level that allows a Windows Server 2012 Domain Controller installation.
3- Raise Domain Functional Level, click ok.
4- Domain functional level was raised successfully, click ok.
5- Current domain functional level is Windows Server 2003, click close.
6- Open Active Directory Domain and Trusts right-click Active Directory Domain and Trusts and then click Raise Forest Functional Level.
7- On the Raise Forest Functional Level Select Windows Server 2003, click Raise.
8- On the Raise Forest Functional Level, click ok.
9- Click ok The functional level was raised successfully.
10- Verify Current Forest functional level is Windows Server 2003 and then click ok.
11- Now Join Windows Server 2012 (DC2012) to DC2003 Active Directory Domain.
12- First set IP address in windows server 2012 (DC2012).

Migrate Active Directory Server 2003 to Server 2012
14- On the DC2012 server, open Active Directory Users and Computers, right click domain xpertstec.local and click Operations Masters.
15- On the Operations Masters, Select RID, Select Change button.
16- Click Yes.
17- The operations master role was successfully transferred, click ok.
18- Verify that Operation master now transferred to our new Server DC2012.xpertstec.local.
19- On the Operations Masters, Select PDC, Select Change button.
20- Click Yes.
21- The operations master role was successfully transferred, click ok.
22- Verify that Operation master now transferred to our new Server DC2012.xpertstec.local.
23- On the Operations Masters, Select Infrastructure, Select Change button.
24- Click Yes.
25- The operations master role was successfully transferred, click ok.
26- Verify that Operation master now transferred to our new Server DC2012.xpertstec.local.
Change Sites and Services
27- On DC2012 server, open Active Directory Domain and Trusts right click Active Directory Domain and Trusts and click Change Domain Controller.
28- Select This Domain Controller or AD LDS instance and select your DC2012.xpertstec.local and then click ok.
29- Verify that the server now reflects your new DC2012.xpertstec.local.
Change Domains and Trusts
30- On the Active Directory Domains and Trusts, right click Active Directory Domains and Trusts and then select Operations Manager.
31- In the Operations Master, click Change to transfer the domain naming master role to the DC2012.xpertstec.local Windows Server.
32- Are you sure you wish to transfer the operations master role to a different computer?, so click Yes.
33- The Operations Master is successfully transferring, click ok.
34- Now the Domain naming operations master transferred to DC2012.xpertstec.local server.
35- On the DC2012 server, open Command Prompt and type regsvr32 schmmgmt.dll to change the Schema Master.
Change Domain Controller
36- On the DC2012.xpertstec.local server, open MMC, click File, select Add/Remove Snap-ins.
37- Select Active Directory Schema, click Add, and then click ok.
38- On the Console1, right click Active Directory Schema and then select Change Active Directory Domain Controller.
39- Select This Domain Controller or AD LDS instance, click DC2012.xpertstec.local server and then click ok.
40- Click OK to proceed.
41- Verify Active Directory Schema DC2012.xpertstec.local computer is showing.
42- On the Console1, right click Active Directory Schema and then select Operations Master.
43- Click Change to transfer the schema master role to the DC2012.xpertstec.local.
44- Are sure you want to change the schema operations master role to a different computer and then click on Yes.
45- Operations master successfully transferred, so click OK.
46- Verify the current schema master (online) is now DC2012.xpertstec.local, so click Close.
The next step is to remove the legacy 2003 Windows Server from the Global Catalog Server.
47- Now switch back to DC2003 server, open Active Directory Sites and Services, browse to Sites, Default-First-Site-name, Servers, DC2003, NTDS Settings right click and select Properties.
48- NTDS Settings, un-tick Global Catalog, click Apply and then click ok.
49- Switch back to DC2012 Server, open Command Prompt and then type Netdom query fsmo to verify that out new DC2012.xpertstec.local Server is running the FSMO role.
Next, open IPv4 IP and make sure you point the DNS IP to your new DC2012.xpertstec.local IP address.
Remove Active Directory Server 2003
50- Now the last step is to remove our DC2003 ADDS, open run, and then type dcpromo.
51- Active Directory Installation Wizard, so click next.
52- Remove active directory, then click next.
53- Active directory application, so click next.
54- Select Delete all application directory partitions on this domain controller and then click next.
55- Type Administrator Password and then click Next.
56- Review and confirm the options you selected and then click Next.
57- Wait for the process to complete.
58- Active Directory removed from this computer, so click Finish.

Additional Domain Controller (ADC) Server 2012
1- open server manager, under configure this local server select Add roles and features.
2- Add roles and features wizard, click next.
3- Select the Role-based or feature-based installation and click on next.
4- Select a server from the server pole and click next.
5- Select box Active Directory Domain Services.
6- Click Add Features that are required for the Active Directory Domain Services.
7- After adding active directory domain services features, click next.
8- Click next.

Server 2012 additional domain controller configuration
12- Server Manager click warning message and select Promote this server to a domain controller.
13- Select Add a domain controller to an existing domain, then click the select button and browse to your local domain controller (xpertstec.local), verify that credentials are Administrator and then click on next.
14- Verify that Domain Name System (DNS) server and Global Catalog (GC) is selected and type the directory services restore mode DSRM Password and click next.
15- Ignore the DNS Options warning, so click on next.
16- Specify Additional replication Options interface, besides the Replicate from Select DC2003.xpertstec.local and then click on next.
17- Specify the location of the AD DS database, log files, SYSVOL and then click on next.
18- Under Preparation Options, then click on next.
19- Review that configures this server as an additional active directory domain controller for this domain (your domain), verify all the information and then click on next.
20- On the Prerequisites Check to verify that All prerequisites checks passed successfully, so click Install.
21- Please wait for few minutes for the process to complete.
22- After restarting windows Server 2012, so log in as Domain Administrator.
Install Desktop Experience in windows server 2012, these feature allows you to install a choice of applications & features that are arranged in the server client operating system on your server that is running a Windows Server.
Powershell command
1- Open Windows server Powershell from the start bar.
2- Type the below command to enable desktop experience feature.

Open Server Manager from the Start screen.
1- In the Server Manager Dashboard and under Welcome to Server Manager and then click Add roles and features.
2- within the Add Roles and Features Wizard. So, click Next.
3- Select role-based or feature-based installation and then click Next.
4- Select a server from the server pool and then click on next.
5- under Server Roles, click next.
6- Scroll down the list of features and expand User Interfaces and Infrastructure and then select Desktop Experience.
7- In the pop up dialog, click Add Features that are required for the desktop experience.
8- After adding desktop experience features. and click on next.
9- Click Install to start the Windows server 2012 desktop experience features installation.
10- When Desktop Experience installation completed, click Close and restart the server.
10- Once the server restarted, you can access the desktop features.
11- Review the active directory domain services installation and then click Install.
12- Active directory Installation completed, so click close.
Configuring Windows Server 2012 Active Directory
13- From Server Manager click on Notifications, so click remote this server to a domain controller.
14- Under select the deployment operation Select Add a new forest enter the Root domain name and then click on Next.
15- Selection forest and domain functional level Windows Server 2012 as the default level. Keep Domain Name System (DNS) server checked and type the directory services restore mode (DSRM) password and then click next.
16- Ignore warnings in the DNS options window and then click next.
17- In the additional options window, verify the NetBIOS domain name and then click Next.
18- Specify the location of the AD DS database, log files, and SYSVOL folders and then click on Next.
19- In the review options window, review domain name, NetBIOS name, and Global catalog, etc. and then click on next
20- When all prerequisite has been successfully passing then click on Install.
21- When the installation completes, you will be prompt that your machine successfully configures as a domain controller and will be rebooted automatically.

1- After downloading double click isotousb setup file to run.
2- Welcome to the ISO to USB setup wizard, click next.
3- Select I accept the agreement and click on next.
4- Click next.
5- Setup iso to usb, click next.
6- Select Create a desktop icon and click next.
7- Click Install to start the installation ISO to USB on your computer.
8- Select Launch ISO to USB and click finish.
9- After opening software Click on brows to select the Windows ISO file.

Select File System
Type a windows name in Volume Label.

10- A warning message the USB disk will be formatted. click Yes to write ISO to this USB disk.
11- ISO to USB running process.
12- Burn the ISO file to USB disk has been successfully completed and click ok.
Create a Bootable USB drive Chrome OS using CloudReady USB maker
Download the USB Maker from CloudReady and click USB Maker
First, confirm you have downloaded the right version of the CloudReady USB Maker.

In this guide, I am going to restore the Acronis backup image to the physical server using Acronis backup & recovery 11.5 bootable disk.
Restore Acronis Backup Image to Physical Server Bootable Disk
1- Boot the target machine with Acronis bootable media and then choose system boot from CD/DVD.
2- So, select the Acronis backup & recovery 11.5.
3- Now select Recover.
4- Acronis recovery data, under what to recover and then select required.
5- Acronis data to recovery selection, so select Browse.
6- Select a backup archive that contains data you want to restore .tib file desired to be restored and then click ok.
7- After selecting the backup location, go to the Archive view tab, and select the backup archive that you want to restore. In the Backup contents, section selects the partitions or disks that you want to recover and then click ok.
8- Under where to recover, so select clear all.
9- Under where to recover select required.
10- Select a target partition for the restore and then click ok.
11- Under where to recover, select Properties.
12- Specify the hard disk size and you can change the partition size as you want and click ok.
13- Under Task, select recovery options.
14- Acronis recovery data, addition settings, click ok and review the details and click OK to start the operation.
